If you think you can, or you think you can’t …

“If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you like to win, but you think you can’t,
It is almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost,
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will –
It’s all in the state of MIND.

If you think you’re outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles, don’t always go                                                                                         To the stronger or faster man                                                                                        But sooner or later the man who wins                                                                     Is the man who thinks he can!

Napolean Hill, Think & Grow Rich – rhyme 1

Achievement is a state of mind.  It is about learning and knowledge, experience and developing self-belief.  I know this – it works for me.  I have seen it in client work, and family and colleagues too. And yes, it can be difficult at times to develop and maintain that belief.  I know that too!  But it can be done and if you accept it as a process of development* then the pressure lessens, the disappointments are less harsh and there is only learning from mistakes (rather than beating yourself up, putting yourself down…or letting other do that for you!)

*The process of development (personal development) is Experience – Learning from mistakes – making Changes – Trying again – Finding what works –Holding on to that Knowledge – and Embedding that experience and knowledge into yourself and Your Life. (Reflection)
